Is VortX affiliated with Stremio?
No. VortX is its own product. It is built on the open-source stremio-core engine and works with Stremio add-ons, but it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Stremio.
Does VortX host or provide any content?
No. VortX hosts and indexes no media and provides no content of its own. It plays only what your own installed add-ons return. You bring your own add-ons.
Which platforms does VortX run on?
Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, and Mac are available today; Android, Windows, Linux, and Google TV are in active development on the same engine. The Apple apps are sideloaded for now (Sideloadly, AltStore, SideStore, or Signulous on iPhone and Apple TV, and a right-click to open on Mac), and a self-hosted update channel is on the way.
What does it cost?
Nothing. VortX is free and open source under GPL-3.0. Everything other clients moved behind a paywall ships here free, on our own implementations.
How does the VortX account keep my data private?
It is end to end encrypted. Your password derives an encryption key on your own device, and your profiles, settings, library, and history are encrypted before they ever leave it. VortX servers, and any future self-hosted node, only ever store ciphertext, so no one but your devices can read your data. Manage it at vortx.tv/login.
