Account and sync
A VortX account is free, optional, and end-to-end encrypted. Your password derives an encryption key on your own device, so the server only ever stores ciphertext and can never read your data.
Create an account
Go to vortx.tv/login and create an account with an email, a password, and a unique username. You will be shown a recovery code once, save it. It is the only way back in if you forget your password and lose your devices, and it is strong enough that no one can guess it.
What syncs
- Your profiles, settings, and playback preferences.
- Your library and watch history.
Your Stremio library and add-ons also restore when you sign in, since VortX runs the same open engine the official apps use.
Backup and restore
From the dashboard you can download an encrypted backup file and restore it later. The backup stays encrypted, so a downloaded copy is still safe to keep anywhere.
Two-factor authentication
On the dashboard, open the Two-factor (authenticator) card and tap Enable 2FA to add a TOTP authenticator app. Your recovery code can still get you in if you lose the authenticator, so store it as carefully as your password.
Change password
The dashboard’s Change password card re-encrypts your keys under the new password. Your recovery code keeps working afterward.
Privacy
The account token used by the official Stremio API stays on your device only and is never written into backups or sync. VortX hosts, indexes, and streams no content of its own.
